Welcome to BONDEV: Web and Embedded Engineering
Practical notes on Ruby on Rails, React, Python, embedded systems, and lessons learned while building reliable software products.

Welcome to my blog. I write about web and embedded technologies — an unusual combination, I know. It may seem strange at first, but I think it's actually a great mix. Web and embedded systems aren't often discussed together, but I believe they complement each other well. Here you'll find posts on web technologies, embedded systems, and how to bridge the two.
About me
I'm a software engineer passionate about web development with diverse experience across the full stack — both backend and frontend. Most of my professional experience is with Ruby, my primary backend language, though I'm also proficient in JavaScript, TypeScript, and Python. I'm constantly learning new technologies and enjoy sharing knowledge with the community.
Backend technologies
My primary backend experience is with Ruby on Rails, though I've also worked extensively with Node.js and Python. I have a deep understanding of web application architecture, RESTful APIs, GraphQL, and database design. Beyond Rails, I've built web services using Koa.js, Express.js, and Flask.
Frontend technologies
I have extensive experience with modern frontend frameworks — React, Vue.js, and Angular — as well as older frameworks like Backbone.js. I'm also comfortable with lightweight solutions like Stimulus and Vanilla JavaScript. I'm passionate about building responsive, user-friendly interfaces and regularly explore new frontend tools and libraries to stay current. I'm experienced with state management solutions including Redux and Pinia.
Databases
I have extensive experience with various databases, including PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, and Redis. I understand the importance of thoughtful database design and optimization for building performant, scalable systems.
Embedded systems
You're probably wondering why I mentioned embedded systems but haven't written about them yet. Well, embedded development is currently my hobby. I enjoy working with microcontrollers, sensors, and other hardware components. My main platform is the ESP32, and I primarily use C.
I chose a less conventional path by using the ESP-IDF framework instead of the more popular Arduino framework. Why did I make this choice? I'll explain in upcoming posts — it's a longer story tied to the job market and my career experience.
Plans for the blog
I'll explore the future of web development in the AI era, practical approaches to navigating these changes, how to get started with embedded hardware, and ways to bridge web and embedded systems. Beyond essays, I plan to share tutorials, code snippets, and insights into my development process. I'll also showcase the projects and libraries I'm currently working on and planning to launch, sharing both the wins and the lessons learned along the way. My goal is to create a space where developers can learn, share experiences, and grow together.
That's it.
